When you’re 19 years old, you think you know everything.
You’ve got all the answers figured out, and finally you have the freedom to finally pursue your dreams. For me, that all came crashing down the next year when I was 20. I was homeless, jobless, and all the answers I thought I had suddenly stopped making sense.
I was one of the lucky ones though. I was able to surround myself with people who knew how to make good decisions, and they taught me. They gave me actionable goals, and information that was meaningful and life changing. Once I experienced just how hard life could be, I made a conscious decision to make sure life was never that hard again. That meant focusing on fixing my situation at the time, but it also meant planning for the future.
Maybe you know exactly what I’m talking about.
You went through high school having big plans and dreams for yourself, and now that you’re in college, or just graduated, suddenly the reality of being an adult with adult-like responsibilities is not the golden ticket you thought it’d be.
